15 December 2006.
Hi everybody. This is my first journal and I hope to fill it up with what I am currently doing and various other things.
The last week has been a bit of a rollercoaster. It has been packed full of excitement, challenge and torment.
This week was the start of a new beginning! With our new hosting we can finally set ourselfs up properly and make a name for ourselfs.
I was tormented by revision this week. I am now in 3rd Year and studying for my prelims. We had a total of 5 tests this week. That's a lot of revision. But hopefully next week will go a bit more smoothly.
Lets move on to mapping and coding! My two favourite subjects.
In mapping news, I have been working hard at my "KF-Hospital" which I have fallen behind on work. I have completed The basement, and I have 2 more floors to go till release. This is for Killing Floor. Pictures will be coming up shortly.
In coding news, I have been helping out the Killing Floor team due to their coders being inactive/afk. I am not allowed to report on what I have done, but I can tell you that things are going smoothly and we hope to get the patch out as soon as possible!
In the collective news, we have been slowly gaining members and we hope to continue doing so. We have been talking to a few clans and hopefully we can agree for them to join us.
In the modding branch news, we have been brainstorming ideas for Total Conversion mods. We have come up with a total of 2 ideas, one will be released for Unreal Tournament 2004, and the other we plan to release for Unreal Tournament 2007. More information will be disclosed later on.

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Most of my time has been dedicated on finishing the last days of school on a good lead. Whilst everyone else was mucking around, I finished off the last of my work that I missed during holidays and such.
I really don't have much modding news to tell you, we are currently brainstorming our ideas a bit more in-depth at the moment. All information will be released when we deem the time is right.
A month ago I joined a site called Gametrailers , which is a bit like youtube and google video. But specifically for games. I post some of my videos there which you can see in the thread I posted about "my videos". Everytime you post a movie, watch another movie, post on the forums, comment on movies and much more, you earn "virtual money(GTD)". If you have a stupendous amount of this virtual money, you can exchange it for real things, like an xbox 360, or a game. I liked this principle and I have slowly been saving up money. I donated $200 to a charity they were funding called "Childs Play." It all went for a good cause.
Soulbreakers News Ut2k4 Modding Branch At the moment we are brainstorming in further depth our 2 main ideas for total conversion mods. Some of our members are doing their own thing and completely independantly from us. So we hope to give you a lot of content soon.
General Community Welcome to MbR! MbR are a guild from Thievery. Glad to see you guys aboard. We are discussing with a few other clans to arrange joining terms so hopefully we will have some more members soon.
My Current Project(s) I am currently developing a map for Killing Floor called "Hospital". It has been tough because another member of the community made their own Hospital map. But don't fear, our ideas are totally different. His is more outside based. In mine you will be in the hospital all the time. I am editing a lot of the main structure to get the scale absoulutly right. So screenshots will have to be delayed a short while. Sorry.

A long time since a post? Yeh. I apologise.
I've been working on KF-Hospital for most of the time. Not even making more part of the map, just fixing all the bugs. The problem about my map was that I was following somebody else's instructions, and he told me what he thought about the map...if something wasn't the right size to him, I would have to change it. Because of this, I got lazy and rather than deleting BSP and making it bigger, I would just subtract MORE BSP. Although there is zoneportals, this does slow the map down a lot and is very hard to know what-is-what in the wireframe viewport.
It would take weeks of careful placing and deleting, so in the end I just left it. The top floors however are much more optimized, I was careful and considerate this time around.
To be honest, I find all custom Killing Floor maps, the same...the only ones that stick out from it is Tower. Although I like Swamp. So I wanted Hospital to be different in someway, mainly, looks good, and plays well. I've designed it so as the specimens can get you, anywhere you are, and in a relatively short time. Making the waves in-between seem like a piece of gold in a muddy pool.
One of the other things I hated about KF maps was the lack of...anything. Nothing fancy, except elevators. To avoid the stereotype onto my map I've added quite a few "Easter Eggs" as they are known. I've currently gotten one placed, and have a plan for another one. The Easter Eggs won't ruin the gameplay one bit, as I said before
I wrote ... the specimens can get you wherever you are, in a relatively short time
They just open up new gameplay elements. I don't want to ruin it for you, so I won't tell you exactly what, one thing though, always be on the lookout for things
Next problem was the concept, the way humans design their buildings make it hard for the big zombies to fit in, I found this excruciatingly difficult during the build of the basement. You will learn why in the next paragraph, where I will describe the map to you.
Hospital is exactly as its called, a Hospital. But unlike the other ones I've seen before, its accurate. Everything is designed around a concept that makes it look and feel like a real hospital. This hospital is not one of the 'better' ones and it suffers from a lot of criticism from its patients. Being one of the first to be affected by the zombie outbreak. At first they didn't have a clue what it is(As Horizine where keeping their muckup secret), and everyone that was suffering from it, they claimed as insanity. And put them in the insanity cells down in the basement. The Insanity cells(As I call them), are tiny rooms where the patient is kept, until death. To save costs there is only two of them(As the Hospital did not expect to ever be using them), and they can both hear and see each other. But they cannot get out of their individual cells. The cells lead to a long corridor, and a soundproof, locked, enforced door. So nobody can hear their screams.
The basement is where all the things patient shouldn't, or...don't want to see, are. The kitchen where they prepare the food, the pantry where they store it, and other test stuff. The power room. And the "death rooms", where a patient is not insane, but is slowly dieing. They keep them in there, feeding and neutering them until death.
The floor above that is the main area, the place where all the patients see. Everything here is kept as clean as possible, to keep the patient feeling safe and healthy. You will see everything that you see in a real hospital, here.
The floor above is their "rooms of death". Not really, its where they cut open the people and preform surgery, as in, fix a bone, take out a kidney, preform plastic surgery.
The rest I haven't really decided yet. This was just to show that I am actually working on something.

Ut3 is out! UEd 4 is out! My god it's so confusing
After a lot of thought I am converting DM-Bla(Bio Logic Arena) into a ut3 map, It would help me understand UEd 4 a lot better, and would prehaps make it look better.
I think I'll stick with subtractive, I hate additive engines

15 June 2008
This would of been 14th June, but by the time I've finished this, it will probably be around midnight.
As some of you may know, Soulbreakers are developing a new game called Quarantine: The Apocalypse. I won't dwell to much into it, as our sourceforge page already explains a lot of information. And as I get the time, I will keep adding more information about the game.
Briefly, it's a co-operative zombie survival horror game, using a variety of free open-source engines that have almost no limitations. The game will be released free of charge.
I must say though, a lot of thought has gone into it. And we released the game is far to big for a small development team like us to start working on it. Therefore we are only planning it right now. And no, we have no idea when it will be finished, prehaps you should ask when it will be begun
I sorta took over "Project Lead", and have been doing a lot of research and documentation about it. All of which can be accessed in our SVN. I released after a couple of months, that it would be quite a long time before this game went into development, and I didn't want to let such a good idea go to waste. So I'm writing my own novel, which will portray what I would like the game to be like. Although the novel itself will be related to the game, the story will differ and characters may be different.
I revolved my novel around my own fictional law, which I'll list. It's more like an addition to the novel, you do not have to read it...but if you do, you will be rewarded later on.
wrote ... 1) Most things have an opposite. It has to have an opposite, else nothing could kill it, and most things die.
Things that can’t die are unique. The only unique things are: • Change o People don’t like change because it does not have an opposite. People need an opposite to understand something. • Energy o Life is not unique, as death is its opposite. But everything has energy. • Light • Sound • Gravity
Something unique is controlled by a God, who acts as an operator. He or she makes sure that nothing goes wrong, or acts in a wrong fashion. A unique force chooses it’s maker to be its God.
In the beginning, change was the only unique thing. Then it became under attack by nothing. Changing something unique has unknown effects, this time it created a big bang. One God was formed, and a God has to have something unique to control, so God controlled change. But God was not unique, as nothing has an opposite. So God could die. God eventually died, and change did not have a God. So change ran wild, and kept changing itself to an opposite it did not have, every time it did this something new was formed. This formed the World we know today. Each controlled by a God, who has done a remarkable job of keeping their unique force under control.
2) In-between any two extremes, there is a middle or passing point. That is something different. Something different can understand something unique and something with an opposite. 3) An opposite is allowed to change once into its opposite, but after that it's new opposite has no power. Cheating this involves something unique. 4) Mix two Gods, and their unique power fuses, making a new unique power. 5) An opposite cannot change itself into its opposite, it must be done by an external force.
Leaving that subject be.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually made a map, and released it!
UT3, the game itself, was hard to get used to, with the editor being no different. Everytime I learn something new, I always make something un-practical, simple, just to get my head around the concept. The end result, Base.
This map really isn't much fun to play. I didn't intend it to be, I didn't even intend to release it...I just did. To show to other people how far I have progressed since then. As a benchmark. In this map, I went for more "pretty" than "gameplay". But it still preforms fine, and far less resource hogging than the standard Epic maps.
My life isn't as boring to say that this is ALL that happened inbetween my last post. Plenty of things have happened, but not all of which have been gaming related. I'll post about it soon when our brand new "Blog" system takes place. Just so I can find lots of bugs to make Tim fix
