Time for Action

Bah. Seeing a great community of members only resort to Xfire as a means of communication depresses me. We have this great site setup by Tim, and all this hosting space. And none of it is being used(Except by me to show people my awesome desktops )

Previous time's we thought that simply posting a "We ain't dead" news post bi-annualy might work. But it didn't. Then we thought that the little shoutbox might work, it didn't.

So...I'm not gonna lie saying that I had no time to look at this site, and maintain it(Because when you don't handle bot spam as soon as it happens, it just gets worse. Poor Tim had to clean it up ). I did have exams, but they are over now. And my new year will be extra-tough, but I like a challenge.

So, without further nonsense....I present some "Ideas" that may help make this community, more community-like.

  • "Normal" Blogs - Previously we had "Gaming Blogs", were we solely talked about things to do with games, mods, or the website itself. This is where extraordinary people talk about their extraordinary life.

  • Game Reviews - It sorta struck us that we are aiming to be a Gaming Collective, who aim to share knowledge of great games, and games you should avoid...and we haven't got a review section! Alas, we are not going to review massive games like Metal Gear Solid 4, 2 days after release. There will be plenty of games that you know are good, and we don't need to tell you that. We will try and review the ones, not so known. Prehaps(And probably even more than games themselves) we will review(total conversion) mods.

And by TRY, we mean...you TRY. Me and Tim can post ourselves, but the whole community will need to start getting more involved, seperating from Xfire and using the forums instead.

The Red and White Box

Another year goes by in an instant, It's been a great year for Soulbreakers, with the forums getting a huge revamp thanks to the MbR(Thieves Legacy) members, we thank you all for your commitment and great support

We have much to look forward to next year, the modding branch is now concentrating on ut3, and are looking to get some work flowing in a new engine. We are always recruiting more and more influential people to help Soulbreakers be even better, and a new stockpile of glorious games to look forward to over-playing.

Again, a huge thank to Uruk-Hai for all his help, the forums are now much more active with you and your members, congratulations on the new guild

We are always working on something at Soulbreakers, and we are preparing a treat for you this holiday season, stay tuned

So from all the Soulbreakers team, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

MbR under Reconstruction

With UomO_Ombra sadly, not having enough time to manage MbR, he has encouragingly handed the Guild Control over to Uruk-Hai. Uruk-Hai has adopted his job well, and a lot of new members are flowing in, and members who are inactive, are being withdrawn from the new guild.

To all new MbR members, welcome, enjoy your stay, stay awhile, stay FOREVER *Evil Laugh*

Anyone wishing to apply for MbR may do so by contacting Uruk-Hai.

We all miss Uomo

Welcome, =Z.E.D=!

Welcome clan =Z.E.D= , it's good to see you around here!

Again, this is another "We are not dead." post, but its true. We are still alive and kicking. In-fact we are growing, getting more active, and getting even more motivated. We would like to thank all members for simply joining in the collective and taking part in the topics.

The Unreal Tournament 2004 branch are now trying out the Unreal Tournament 3 demo, and all members and guests are welcome to join us. You can contact us on Xfire and prehaps we can arrange a game together.

Stability Issues Resolved

Well, this site has experienced a lot of downtime lately.

The host had some server problems, however the issues have now been resolved. We are sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

What was the poblem with the server, we don't know - but we will look into it and update this news item, as soon as we find out.

Again, we are sorry for the downtime. The stability of this website should be a lot higher than before now.

Speaking of things, we might get another game server, but that one probably won't be on 24/7. Nothing is certain yet. It will probably run a total conversion, quite possibly Air Buccaneers. The person hosting it will be the leader of the collective, Tim.

UT2004 Server Configuration Changes

Well, there's one big change in the server - and that is inclusion of more gametypes!
Apart from UT2004RPG, we now host all the default gametypes, Instagib DM, Instagib CTF, ArenaMaster and Team ArenaMaster!

A minor change is also the inclusion of AntiTCC. For any mods that are added, this post will be updated.

We're also going to add 1-5 new maps.

Dead Or Alive?

First of all, I would like to say that Soulbreakers is not dead. That's it, we are still alive

We have recruited a new member, welcome Kyben(Corey)!

Hopefully our modding branch can get together sometime and discuss new ideas to develop, Unreal Engine 3 offers a lot more to us, but developing a mod for Unreal Engine 2.5 is certainly an option we are considering.

Note: To all modding related members: Soulbreakers use MSN AND XFire as our form of Instant Messanger. Please could all members register an account on both. However this is not required, it makes things a lot easier for us. Thank you.

UT2004 Dedicated Server

UPDATE: The server includes more maps, mods and gametypes now!
News item:

http://www.soulbreakers.com/comment.php?comment.news.12

Yes, it's true what they say - we got a UT2004 dedicated server, hosted by our good friend Svenstaro. And what does it run?

Well, it runs RPG Invasion and it has the following mods:
AdminPlus v1.4
Explosive Ammo
UT2004RPG v2.2
Satore Monster Pack
+ a few custom maps
+ More mods & maps coming soon!

More info:
http://ut2004.soulbreakers.com

Direct link:
ut2004://66.55.131.77:7777 (Opens UT2004)

Our server is still in configuration part, but we're finishing the config.

Because of some issues, you won't be able to connect to the server through the gameserver list from UT2004 server browser. We'll update when this is fixed! The problems have now been solved!

Have fun!

Old site, new host

Well, sorry for that delay - we said Sunday, and the site is online on Monday.

What happened? Well, it took a while to upload the files, and we had to do a backup of our database, but couldn't find a proper application, and the old host didn't even have PhpMyAdmin! We found a thing called PhpMyBackup, which does backups of a database. We did a backup, transferred it to the new server and restored the backup. The website had moved flawlessly.

In short, we're off better now, fresh and ready to continue!

And by the way, our new domain is soulbreakers.com.
